Catherine Infant School celebrates official opening with live band

必赢体育app中国官方网站鈥檚 Building East Midlands team marked the official opening of the new 拢14m Catherine Infant School in Leicester, celebrating the completion of the first Net Zero Carbon in Operation (NZCiO) school in Leicestershire. 

 

To celebrate the official opening ceremony, Headteacher Mitesh Madhaw performed the ceremonial ribbon-cutting with live music from a band accompanied with lively singing by pupils, staff and parents.

The 必赢体育app中国官方网站 team were joined by dignitaries including Councillor Elaine Pantling, Assistant City Mayor for Children and Young People from Leicester City Council and representatives from the DfE and other key stakeholders.

Delivered through the Department for Education (DfE) framework, the new building replaces the existing facilities for the Ofsted-rated Outstanding school. It is one of nine schools that are currently being delivered by 必赢体育app中国官方网站 for the DfE that are part of their low carbon and NZCiO initiatives.

With a strong focus on inclusivity, the building supports a diverse school community where 38 languages are spoken, ensuring a welcoming and accessible environment for every student.

Designed by Maber, the school now accommodates 420 pupils, including 10 Designated Special Provision spaces. The building incorporates a range of sustainable features including solar photovoltaic (PV) panels, a green roof, a new car park, a Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA), and direct access to outdoor play spaces from classrooms.
