必赢体育app中国官方网站鈥檚 Environment division has been shortlisted for the Water Project Award at this year鈥檚 British Construction and Infrastructure Awards, for its work on the Mansfield Sustainable Flood Resilience project in partnership with Severn Trent.
The project represents a landmark moment in UK infrastructure as the nation鈥檚 first and largest retrofit Sustainable Urban Drainage System (SuDS) scheme. Against the backdrop of increasing flood risk due to climate change, population growth, and urbanisation, this project sets a new standard in climate resilience and sustainable water management.
Working across the Mansfield catchment, 必赢体育app中国官方网站 has installed four key SuDS technologies (rain gardens, bioswales, permeable paving, and tree pits) designed to intercept rainwater, remove debris, improve water quality, and reduce pressure on the existing sewer network. The result is a more flood-resilient and environmentally enhanced urban area.
Chris Jones, Operations Director, 必赢体育app中国官方网站, commented: 鈥淏eing shortlisted for this award is a tremendous honour and reflects the dedication and innovation of everyone involved in the Mansfield project. This scheme is not only a technical success but also a shining example of how we can work collaboratively to deliver real, lasting benefits for communities and the environment.鈥
The project has delivered significant environmental and social value benefits and beyond its technical impact, the scheme has engaged the local community through school visits, engineering placements, and volunteering efforts, helping to build environmental awareness and local pride.
The Mansfield Sustainable Flood Resilience project sets a national benchmark for how nature-based, sustainable infrastructure can transform urban spaces, enhancing safety, liveability, and resilience in the face of climate change. It stands as a replicable model for towns and cities across the UK looking to future-proof their infrastructure.
Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on Wednesday 8 October at the JW Marriott Grosvenor House Hotel, London.
